Load-Bearing Deck (No Concrete)
Dry Galvanized Load-Bearing Panels
Concrete-free load-bearing deck panels spanning up to 6m. Dry construction for mezzanines, platforms and access floors. Z275 galvanized, no curing time.
Product Overview
Load-bearing deck (also called dry deck or non-composite deck) is a self-supporting galvanized steel panel that carries its load with no concrete topping at all. Instead of relying on composite action with a poured slab, the panel itself is deep-formed with integrated longitudinal stiffeners, so it spans between supports in a single dry operation.
The result is a floor that is walkable the moment it is fixed. There is no formwork, no reinforcement, no pour, no curing period and no weather dependency — which makes it the fastest way to build a mezzanine, a plant access platform, a walkway or a temporary deck.
Panels are roll-formed from galvanized steel at Z275 minimum, in four standard depths from 100 mm to 250 mm, reaching spans of 6.0 m. Interlocking side laps transfer load between adjacent panels and give a continuous working surface without site welding.
Dry deck is deliberately not a substitute for a composite structural floor: its distributed load capacity is moderate compared with a reinforced concrete slab. It is the right answer for mezzanines, platforms and access floors where a wet trade would add weeks to the programme — and our composite deck systems cover the heavy structural cases.

Load-Bearing Deck Panel Range
| Panel Model | Section Depth | Thickness (BMT) | Max Span | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LB-100 | 100 mm | 1.5 – 2.0 mm | 3.0 – 4.0 m | Mezzanine & walkway floors |

Panels are supplied with integrated longitudinal stiffeners and interlocking side laps. Spans shown are indicative for a 2.5 kN/m² distributed load with a 1.5 kN concentrated load — project-specific verification is required.
Dry Deck vs Composite Deck — When to Use Which
| Criterion | Load-Bearing Deck (Dry) | Composite Deck (Concrete) |
|---|---|---|
| Concrete pour | Not required | Required on site |
| Curing time | None — walkable immediately | 7 – 28 days before full load |
| Max span | up to 6.0 m | up to 4.0 m unpropped |
| Load capacity | Moderate — distributed loads | High — heavy industrial loads |
| Weather dependency | None | Pouring affected by rain and temperature |
| Best for | Mezzanines, platforms, access decks | Permanent structural floors |
The two systems are complementary. Where a project needs both a fast dry platform and permanent concrete floors, they can be manufactured and shipped together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about load-bearing deck (no concrete)
What is a load-bearing deck panel?
A load-bearing deck panel is a deep-formed galvanized steel sheet that supports floor loads on its own, without any concrete topping. Integrated stiffeners give it the spanning capability that a flat sheet would not have.
Does it need concrete?
No. Load-bearing deck is a dry system — no concrete, no reinforcement, no formwork and no curing period. That is exactly why it suits mezzanines and platforms where a wet trade would delay the programme.
What loads can it carry?
The standard range is rated for moderate distributed loads, typically around 2.5 kN/m² with a 1.5 kN concentrated load, with spans from 3.0 m to 6.0 m depending on panel depth and thickness. Heavier loads should be verified by our engineers against your specific layout.
What is it used for?
Industrial mezzanines, plant access and maintenance platforms, catwalks and walkways, stair landings, warehouse storage platforms and temporary access decks.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, in Z275 galvanized finish, with a higher coating weight or an additional paint system recommended for coastal or highly humid sites. Outdoor use should always be checked for drainage and slip resistance.
